Anyway, I really have mixed feelings about this. But first, I rarely post stuff about an event but usually keep it to myself about it. I felt like posting it because I feel that it is a special one. Out of all the years I’ve watched, this deserves a lot of attention.
First of all, the candidates have to fill up a form and must meet the requirements so that she can join the election. The graduates that meet the specific requirements are also allowed to join the election. Seeing this as an opportunity, 6 graduates have taken the chance to be ranked and be a part of the single. Other members have backed out because of personal reasons and everyone was anticipating who will join and who will not join.As a yearly tradition, girls who are officially joining the election need to have an election poster. It will be posted at the theater area where people could see it. Some have great posters while others have plain ones. The girls get to impress themselves in front of the camera, say their speeches while in their preferred costumes for about a minute or so. A collection of these videos may be played during theater shows a few weeks before the voting period starts. The videos are from Youtube but any fan can access it anytime as they are not taken down.
There’s the release of the summer single bundled with voting tickets. There are ways to vote for your oshimen and I won’t discuss it here in detail. Just simply get the voting ticket and go to the said site and enter the code and you’re done.
Of course this is what happens during the election period and the voting process. The day of announcing the winners have to happen and it has to be earlier.First thing in the afternoon was the concert. I had to find someone who’s streaming it as AKB didn’t want it to be streamed. It worked fine for the whole duration of the concert but yeah it would have been cool to have watched it live.
The setlist was very good as it tried to go with the classic songs like Heavy Rotation, Gingham Check, Aitakatta and Flying Get to set the mood. Then they went with 3 songs from each sister group. The kenkyuusei had their own Heavy Rotation performance after that followed by a popular song from each team like Korogaru Ishi ni Nare, Team B Oshi and Pioneer. After the next MC was a flurry of popular unit songs. The songs that came after were new singles from NMB and SKE. They performed more songs and the graduated ended it with Skirt Hirari.
Overall it was good at least to what I’ve listened but let’s see how good it will be when the DVD comes out. Election wise I think more sister group members want to shine like SKE, NMB and HKT.
Hirajima Natsumi ranked 62 after ranking 26 the first 3 years she joined. I guess skipping a year and upping the competition might have pushed her back a lot. Her fans are still there to support however there was not much a graduated member can do in order to make themselves known to the voting public. No handshake events, limited TV appearances unless that member is a regular so yeah it worked against her. But maybe if she was only allowed to come back for real, maybe we’ll see her rank higher.
Matsui Sakiko, Maeda Ami, and Sato Sumire all ranked in. I was happy that they ranked in despite the fact that they had a bad preliminary round. Their fans are able to have enough votes for them and them being veterans made it all better.
Kuramochi Asuka really ranked lower than expected. At least her single would have had saved her from falling so hard. Sato Amina, however bounced back after not ranking in the 1st day to 33rd making her Next Girls center. Amina complained about not having much role as a Team K member back in Budokan last April, maybe she knows her fans trust her and I think that she had to have a good rank this year so that her luck might turn around.
Haruppi ranking 37th and Sakuratan bounced back to rank 26th. HKT seems to be on a roll. Will something happen to Sakura? We’ll see.
Kitahara, Akicha, Umechan and Miichan hanging on to upper Undergirls. Experience and their fans do pay off and that separates them from Kawaei who’s a strong presence in AKB now.
Tomochin ranking 11th, Sae takes over and Haruna, Takamina falling out of the top 7. I guess their fans really rallied for them to hopefully make it to the middle senbatsu.
Rena and Jurina finally break into the Top 7. All they needed was 70,000 votes and that did them well.
Shinoda Mariko graduates upon getting 5th place. It was a sad moment for everyone but I guess being 27 meaning that her doors are closing and more opportunities in life are decreasing. She’ll have her graduation performance at Fukuoka Dome but still 92,000 votes is beyond phenomenal.
Yukirin got 4th and she edges out Mariko again. however having 96.000 votes don’t cut it to be in the top 3 as they have at least 100,000 votes.
Mayu at 3rd was not a shock to me but maybe I thought that she could have been 2nd. Yuko beat her by 30,000 votes again and the eventual winner was Sashihara at 150,000 votes.
I guess the votes really made a large difference between who got 1st, 2nd, 3rd and so on. But usually only 1 or 2 have only reached 115,000+ votes and this year, 3 have 388,283 votes which is beyond expectation and that’s because of the theater versions of the CDs coming along with the voting code.
I know it’s just your yearly sousenkyo but this year, there were some surprises that really made the difference.
